Temporomandibular joint disorder
is a common condition with many
names. It can be called TMJ, TMJ
syndrome, TMJ dysfunction, or
temporomandibular disorder (TMD).
Temporomandibular joint disorder
(we'll use the term TMJ) is a
problem in the jaw and
surrounding areas of the head
and neck that causes pain,
discomfort, and disability in
millions of people each year.
Experts believe that
approximately 20 percent of the
population will, at some time,
suffer from some form of TMJ
disorder, and about 5 percent
are currently in pain and
looking for help. |
